Rufi Thorpe, Pen/Faulkner Finalist, is joining the Book Incubator™️!

The award-winning author of the novels The Knockout Queen, Dear Fang, With Love, and The Girls from Corona Del Mar is joining The Book Incubator™️ as a lead instructor alongside founder and novelist Mary Adkins (author of When You Read This, Privilege, and Palm Beach).

Rufi will focus on the revision lessons and Mary will focus on the writing lessons, but they’ll also co-instruct across the program.

Rufi wrote her first novel The Girls from Corona Del Mar (Dylan Thomas Long List) while pregnant, then revised it when her son was newly born (nap time writing sessions, anyone?).

After landing her dream literary agent through a cold email, she sold that debut novel when her oldest son was only seven months old. Determined not to fall prey to legendary demons befalling authors attempting their sophomore novels, she resolved to write her second novel Dear Fang, With Love, as fast as she could and finished a draft before her first came out. Her third novel, The Knockout Queen, was a finalist for the Pen/Faulkner Award and a Book of the Month selection. It’s also one of Mary’s all-time favorite novels—talk about meeting your heroes!

These days, when Rufi isn’t writing, she’s being whipped by her eight- and eleven-year-old sons in chess or catering to her bossy bull terrier.
